What's New At Decatur Mold
ATOS 5 High-Speed 3D Laser Scanning Technology.
There is no other technology that can match the precision offered by modern high-speed laser scanning equipment. These systems are used in many industries from the measurement of injection molds, dies, die-cast tooling, check fixtures, manufactured parts, and reverse engineering. They are based on state-of-the-art camera sensors and innovative measuring and projection technology. An ATOS sensor is a self-monitoring system. The software of the sensors is continuously monitoring the calibration status, the transformation accuracy as well as environmental changes, and part movements in order to ensure the quality of the measuring data.
The ATOS Plus intuitively integrates photogrammetry with the ATOS Triple Scab or ATOS Core 3D scanner to further advance automation. This dynamic combination enhances measurement accuracy, repeatability and eliminates the need for costly precise fixtures. -

Part Inspection
Ensure the final product matches the 3D data. Inspect parts to 3D contours, print, and print tolerances deviations. ATOS provides fully automated full-field deviations between the actual 3D coordinates and the CAD data. As this measuring data contains all the object information, in addition to the surface deviations from the CAD, the software also automatically derives detailed information such as GD&T, GOM’s measuring systems ensure the dimensional quality of manufactured parts. They form the basis for the optimization of production and machine parameters.

Tooling Inspection
Same as part inspection, tooling can be inspected to ensure the final machining matches the 3D data. Inspect 3D contours, hole locations, alignment between both halves of the tooling. Scanning to find interference areas or hard-to-find shut-off issues. Aids in manufacturing spare parts and mold maintenance machining after production starts. Inspect tools during production to define wear areas.

Reverse Engineering
When you have a specialized part that you need to replicate but don’t have the designs for it, reverse engineering is the path to take. That same precision scanning is advantageous when you need to inspect a component thoroughly. With an irregularly shaped object, it can be difficult to get an accurate picture of its condition by using traditional inspection methods. A laser scanner will inspect and record every detail of the object’s surface, regardless of its construction, to deliver the data you require. You will then have a clear indication of the fitness of the part backed by measurable and factual results. The ATOS 5 will provide data needed to design and manufacture the reproduction component. Also enhances hot mold repairs when there is no data available, quickly collects the data to allow surfaces to be machined back to production-ready status.

Our Projects
Under the Hood Parts for an Automotive Customer
After this automotive customer’s injection molding machine stopped functioning, we helped produce under-the-hood parts, beginning work that night and continuing work well into the next day. Their first shipment was ready in 6 hours from the first point of contact.
Our Projects
Helping busy tooling managers reduce their uncertainty and lighten their workload
WE EQUIP YOU WITH A HISTORY OF GRIT AND A FUTURE OF INNOVATION
For generations, we’ve kept our sleeves rolled up to deliver at all costs. Today, we continue to keep up and seek to outrun an ever-changing landscape of inventive technology and implement those innovations in the work we do.
Our expansive facility takes up 87,000 square feet of space that includes a broad array of CNC machines. We have a team of designers that utilize advanced engineering software to shorten turnaround times and improve the overall quality of the tools you produce.
THINK OF US AS YOUR TOOLING TOUR GUIDES
Aside from skill and experience, it’s our love for people and our love for the craft that will guide you through the tooling process — every step of the way. You’ll never be left wondering and you’ll never be left hanging.
